Shift:  Flexible schedule - includes weekends

Wage: Starts at base of $18.00/Hr plus tips

Position Overview: The Kitchen Line Cook is responsible for assisting in prepping and cooking a full breakfast and lunch line with a variety of whole grain, wheat free and vegan options to spec in the Whole Grain Store, Restaurant, and Bakery.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

  • Prepares ingredients by washing and chopping food to specifications.
  • Cooks menu items per recipe standards in a timely, consistent accurate manner.
  • Follows in-house recipes and specs for all menu items.
  • Ensures that all allergy and dietary restrictions on the ticket have been addressed.
  • Clearly communicates with the kitchen expo team ensuring that all food items are correct.
  • Keeps kitchen, walk-in, and dish areas clean and assists with putting away deliveries.
  • Complies with all nutrition and sanitation guidelines.
  • Maintains sanitation standards by sanitizing prep areas before and after use and makes sure that all critical equipment is kept clean.
  • Sets-up and stocks stations with necessary supplies, continues to restock supplies for line cooks throughout the day.
  • Safely uses kitchen equipment and keeps up equipment maintenance.
  • Ensures food and merchandise is properly stocked, labeled, and rotated in workstations and throughout the kitchen.
  • Remains friendly and service oriented, including during times of long lines and high traffic.
  • Ensures a clean, organized, safe, and respectful environment for guests and employees.
  • Confront and resolve difficult situations in a proactive, objective, professional, and solution-oriented manner.
  • Communicate effectively with individuals, groups, peers, management, and the general public.
  • Maintains food knowledge on all Bob’s Red Mill offerings and confidently and accurately communicates that knowledge to customers.
  • Complies with all company policies and procedures and operates all equipment in a safe and food-safe manner.
  • Complies with Bob’s Red Mill food safety policies and procedures including adherence to FDA regulations, Safe Quality Food (SQF) Standards, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). 
  • Responsible for reporting food safety and quality concerns to Supervisors and/or Department Manager. 
  • Performs other duties and tasks as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None.
  • This position reports to the General Manager and Restaurant Supervisor.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • 2 or more years of experience in a fast-paced kitchen environment, AND
  • Previous experience in a commercial kitchen, AND
  • High school diploma or equivalent; OR
  • Any combination of education and additional years of experience that provides the necessary skills, knowledge, and ability to perform assigned tasks.
  • Must hold or be able to obtain a food handlers card.

 

Physical Demands: 

  • Position requires continued walking or standing for up to 2 hours at a time.
  • Position requires the ability to bend, kneel, push, pull, crouch, squat, and climb stairs frequently.
  • Position requires the ability to lift products weighing up to 50 pounds.

 

Work Environment:

  • The primary work environment for this position is within a large commercial kitchen utilizing a commercial dishwasher.
  • Frequently exposed to loud noises.
  • While indoors, may encounter temperatures from 32°F within a cooler to 425°F around cooking equipment.
  • Employees will be exposed to common food allergens.
