Wage: Starts at base of $24.08/Hr

Position Overview: The Retail Lead provides leadership on the sales floor, assists customers by helping them find products and answering questions, operates cash registers, cleans and organizes, and actively assists with merchandising and stocking. 

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions: 

  • Keeps store and warehouse clean, organized, and presentable for business. 
  • Resolves day-to-day staffing shortages and needs resulting from callouts, no-shows, or unforeseen circumstances which may require working outside typically scheduled hours. 
  • Merchandises products, creates displays, and creates store and product signage to increase business. 
  • Assists General Manager with product merchandising, display creation, and store and product signage. 
  • Schedules to the needs of the business while accounting for the labor budget and trends. 
  • Performs administrative functions such as data entry, inventory control, product ordering, and receiving. 
  • Occasionally drives a BRM vehicle between facilities. 
  • Shares product knowledge enthusiastically and accurately to elevate service and increase sales. 
  • In partnership with the General Manager, manages fulfillment and inventory needs of the Whole Grain Store. 
  • Helps to ensure that the stockroom is clean, organized, and follows all company best practices and standards. 
  • Follows and adheres to all safety procedures when operating equipment. 
  • Trains and assists retail employees to properly put away freight, rotate stock, maintain flex space, and label as necessary. 
  • Actively leads a shift with high energy and a focus on service. 
  • Demonstrates positive financial decisions such as inventory control and labor on a shift-by-shift basis. 
  • Builds a service-centric team by coaching and developing employees. 
  • Provides timely follow up to a manager regarding any employee coaching. 
  • Ensures proper pricing in all systems to account for accurate COGs. 
  • Works under pressure, meets deadlines, and balances multiple projects simultaneously.   
  • Confront and resolve difficult situations in a proactive, objective, professional, and solution-oriented manner.  
  • Communicates effectively with individuals, groups, peers, cross-functional teams, management, and the general public. 
  • Ensures a clean, organized, safe, and respectful environment for guests and employees. 
  • Provides friendly and engaging customer service. 
  • Complies with all company policies and procedures and operates all equipment in a safe and food-safe manner. 
  • Complies with Bob’s Red Mill food safety policies and procedures including adherence to FDA regulations, Safe Quality Food (SQF) Standards, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).  
  • Responsible for reporting food safety and quality concerns to Supervisors and/or Department Manager.  
  • Performs other duties and tasks as assigned. 

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

  • No regular supervisory responsibilities. 
  • May act as the Manager-in-Charge in the absence of the General Manager. 
  • The Retail Lead reports to the Retail Supervisor and General Manager.

Education and Experience 

  • 2 or more years of experience in retail or customer service, AND 
  • High school diploma or equivalent; OR 
  • Any combination of education and additional years of experience that provides the necessary skills, knowledge, and ability to perform assigned tasks. 
  • Must hold or be able to obtain an OLCC license. 
  • Must hold or be able to obtain a class C driver’s license. 

 

Physical Demands:   

  • Position requires continued walking or standing up to 2 hours at a time. 
  • Position requires the ability to bend, squat, and climb stairs frequently. 
  • Position requires the ability to lift items weighing up to 50 pounds. 

 

Work Environment:  

  • The primary work environment for this position is within the store. 
  • Frequently will be outdoors where temperatures vary. 
  • Employees will be exposed to common food allergens.
